You may have noticed us quietly standing up a JForum forum. We even laid out a welcome mat. Why not announce it here you ask?

We were waiting for something special to happen. Since the jforum.net forums are no longer up, Rafael Steil kindly offered to send us a dump so we could make that data available to the world again. I wrote some data migration scripts, blogged about the process and lo and behold, we have data!

The forum is for questions/discussion about "pure JForum" (what comes from jforum.net) and CodeRanch JForum our fork. Go on over and check it out. With over 17K posts, it no longer belongs in the incubator so it has moved to the Products category today as well.

We now have a mapping posted between jforum.net URLs and coderanch URLs

The 'mapping posted' link is expecting a username and password and it did not work for my Javaranch credentials. What does the mapping contains and does it need any other login?

Thanks, John, for letting us know about this. Regular Javaranch logins will work now.

Sorry about that.

We've also updated some of the links in forum posts to point to the new coderanch urls. This means now the jforum links that look like http://www.jforum.net/posts/list/X.page have been replaced by working links that point to coderanch. There are still bad links - JIRA, links with paging, etc. But I don't plan to do anything about those. The mapping wiki page should still help there.

And if you are curious how we migrated the data, I wrote about it
