Hi Ritesh .

Very hearty Congrats for clearing ocpjp 6 . . Must be feeling great I presume . .
I am not having much ideas on scwcd . But I have just started preparing for ocpjp 6 . Got Kathy Sierra book, a week back..

Could you share how your preparation routine was ? Importantly how much time it took .
Because, I am already working, so 9 hrs goes off at work, but I have to take up ocpjp very seriously for some reasons.
Could you brief like, how you practiced, which book , how long you prepared, and/or any other relevant information regarding the exam.

This would be very useful for my preparation ahead

Thanks ...

Hello RiteshKumar,

Congratulations on passing OCPJP6.

Good luck on SCWCD although I would think with Oracle having purchased Sun Microsystems, they renamed it to OCPJWCD. Check out the forum on the ranch.

And welcome to the Ranch.

hi Vikram,

it took me nearly one month. but i had some good basic knowledge of Java already. even i work for 8 hour in office, so i used to spend 3 hours in office managing work and studies and everyday after coming home i used to spend 3-4 hours. I referred SCJP6 book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. Its really a good book. After carefully going through this book 3-4 times and also practicing the concepts you will be in a really good position to get flying colors in certification. I would also suggest to practise just one sample test . As that will give you a view of how the questions will be in test.
All the best, please get back if any doubt and do keep me posted with your progress

Hi RiteshKumar, for ocpjwcd or scwcd. My mentor said that the best book for reference is head first jsp and servlets if you have little or no background with servelts and jsps yet.. its a very good foundation. And they'll mention in that book about the scwcd exam preparation. After that. For preparation and mastery. You can ready SCWCD Exam Study Kit by Hanumant Deshmukh.
