I passed the the SCJP exam last week. I am not going to tell you my score, but at the moment I finished I was confident that I did MUCH better. Anyone else had this experience?
I think I will go for the Developer certification next, because I cannot wait to get into the programming assignment.
Tell me world...do companies and employers charish these certifications?

Congratulations Mark.
Employer reaction to certifications is mixed. Basically, it usually doesn't hurt to be certified, but it's usually never the main reason an employer will hire someone. But all things being equal, with two identical candidates, one certified and one not, the certified one probably has a slight edge.

My SCJP certification just provided me with a tangible benefit recently. At a job interview I didn't need to take a tech exam to prove I know Java because I was certified.
Other than that I would echo Rob - it can be a tie-breaker but is not the most important criteria for getting a job.
