Katie Couric for CBS anchor woman? Following in the steps of Walter Cronkite!?

What is CBS thinking!?

What? Was MARY HART (of Entertainment Tonight fame) unavailable?!

Please CBS: The "Evening News" are supposed to be a serious thing: it's supposed to be News, not entertainment!

Believe it or not there's a movement in America to prevent this from happening. Sure we could all NOT SEE the CBS Evening News from then on but it's more than that.

It would be allowing an inept incompetent person to represent one of the three major AMERICAN TV News networks who instead should be reporting on the conversion to scientology of Tom Cruise's latest captive female.

Katie Couric should be asking this question to Tom Cruise: Do alien babies also take 9 months to gestate? (He's having a baby.)

There are any number of woman journalists who would be far more qualified than Couric, but they are not pretty talking heads who can lull the American masses it believing the drivel that passes for news in this country.

Face it, the real journalists are a dying breed. Even if there are new ones coming along to take their place, the system of mediocracy is so entrenched that they will not be allowed to get very far. How far has television news sunk that promotions for even more mindless drivel such as "Survivor" is treated as a news story?

Katie as network anchor is just another piece of evidence that this country has finally learned what the Roman Empire's leaders knew so very well: give the people bread and circuses and they'll let you get away with anything.
