I am very lazy so don't go anywhere (except office) untill it is very necessary, and I lock myself in a room and watch movies on computer or TV.

But you havent answered my question quite clearly in that post.

I asked 2 questions.
1. Have you applied for Sherif/Bartender or TrailBoss at JavaRanch?

You said I am correct but for which question?

A good book in my favorite coffee shop, especially when it's bitterly cold outside with the snow drifting and the ice mounting. Unfortunately, I haven't had time for this since last December, when I read Palahniuk's Fight Club again. I just ordered Mark Z. Danieleski's new novel, Only Revolutions. This has a very unconventional format similar to his House of Leaves, so I expect it will be quite a diversion for me this winter -- well needed given the horrendous project I'm in the midst of at work.

Fight Club was one of those rare, rare books where the movie is actually better then the book. Because, ultimately, the movie itself was an act of social disobedience for the sake of consciousness, while the book was only a book.

I agree. David Fincher (and company) brought this to an entirely different level, solidifying and even expanding on the original vision. Very rare, especially for Hollywood. Besides, Palahniuk's writing style is... Well, let's just say his books are quick reads.

On the other hand, I still give the book credit -- first, because the fundamental ideas are there; and second, because he came up with some interesting devices to move between "flash fiction" scenes without getting bogged down in narration.

I would have liked that if it wasn't for all the smokers in the cafe. Hence, I would stay in, grab a good book, put my feet up and leave the telly on mute while I read. I haven't done this in months now, and I wouldn't get to until after January (work trips, holidays again exploring, taking photos etc, Christmas, work trips..)!!

This time of year (in my hemisphere and latitude anyway) when the weather is cold and wet, nothing beats sitting in my favourite arm chair, music on and reading a book.

Or walking through the park looking at all the wonderful autumnal leaves.

Or sitting in my favourite pub to have a pint with some friends.

Or pottering around a book shop for an hour or so, followed by a hot chocolate in the cafe.

Everybody's invited. Even this tiny ad:
