quick question about magic cookie

as far as i could understand from the instruction, there's no connection
between the magic cookie and the lock cookie.
while the former is used to identify the data format (i think so ) the
latter is a random number assigned uniquely to clients. am i right?

Correct!

You can use a constant to verify the magic cookie and see if your database file is a valid one (based on the cookie). The lock cookie is used to uniquely identify clients.
