Hi Mates,

What is the professional way to state a pending certification in the cv, which i haven't earned yet but which i am preparing to do. Is it like for example OCJP (Reading) or what?

"studying for XXX"? What are you trying to convey? That you are focusing on learning a technology?

Yes. kind of get know the recruiter that i will qualify this exam in near future. Also to mentioned implicitly by though i didn't take the exam yet, i have the knowledge of the content in that course since im preparing for the exam currently. I mean in a formal way is it appropriate to state like that in a cv or is it not professional if i state like that?

Don't know about professional or not -- but I have never seen this for a certification, although I have seen it in regards to a PhD (ie. PhD candidate title). And quite frankly, it feel a little bit awkward to me.

The recruiter doesn't know that. You could study, not understand anything and fail.

Like Henry, I've never seen it before. I don't think it creates any harm, but I also don't think it adds much value. Luckily this will be a short lived problem as you are planning to take the exam.

The problem is, you are trying to add value to your CV from an event that you expect to happen pretty soon. I assume you are doing this because your interview predates the exam. I have to agree with Jeanne here. You can mention it on your resume, but it does not add any significant value.

An example resume entry for a pending certification would be:

CERTIFICATIONS

Candidate for Oracle Certified Java Programmer (OCJP), (Oracle Corporation, September, 2012)
