One idea that I think can be borrowed from SOA is to provide Blueprints. This is like template where you don't just preach but provide something that can be taken as a reference or starting point. This fits to the concept of architectures coding as well.
Even if Architects do not do actual coding, they should be able to do so when required or to guide others.

Thanks Simon,
I'm aware of a few types and patterns. I'm looking to use this as a resource to introduce mid to senior devs to architecture.

Hi Thad,
I think being a single developer is no excuse to ignore architecture. You can have fewer layers and take up multiple roles at one.
When you do grow and decide to have multiple devs, it might be difficult to refactor architecture. So it's still good idea to have proper architecture.

Nice points. It'd be really nice if all developers are involved to some extent.

Hi Simon,
What type of architecture (pipes, soa, layer and so on) are covered in this book?

Didn't see the authors reply to any post. Did I miss something?

Have you used Hibernate before?
Do you know what framework is being used for web services? Is it Metro, CXF, Axis or something else?

Are you trying to solve any specific problem?
If you just want to learn and understand these technologies, then having an understanding of web services and JMS will help.

I checked docs for Dropwizard a while back and based on my knowledge it is gaining traction in the industry.
How does restlet compare to it?

Can you please provide some info on companies that use this product? How robust is it?
I have used previous experience with JAXRS and JAXWS.

Hi Kali,
Similar to earlier questions about Spring Integration vs ESB and Mule/Camel etc, WebMethods is a complete Suite of products catering to SOA/ESB and full-blown Enterprise Application Integration.
AFAIK Spring Integration provides a subset of that functionality but in an easy to use and cost-effective way.

I'm sure the authors would add quote more to the answer

Again how is Spring integration different from Camel / Mule ESB? Both support spring-based configuration.
