Finally got following mail today after 4 months. I had submitted my assignment on 27th of June, 2011.
My score is 138.

Thanks every one for all the support, specially this plateform for providing great help and tips, when they were needed most.

Good luck to all of you waiting on the result.

Hi Shoukat,

Congratulations! You have passed the Oracle Certified Master, Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect certification. You are among the elite 1% of certified Java professionals who have gone on to achieve the Java Enterprise Architect certification.

You have received a passing score. Passing grades do not receive a score, just the pass. A failing grade will receive section level scoring so that a candidate may isolate the area of failure and resubmit their assignment. Numeric scores are only provided on failures.

Kindly allow two weeks time to view the Oracle Certified Master, Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect certification status on your CertView profile.

Thank you for all your efforts with this certification, and good luck in your future endeavors with Java.

I had requested to suncert_ww@oracle.com last tuesday saying that i had obtained my assignment in march through prometric and also created my pearson vue account. So what will be the process now. Should I be able to upload my assignment to pearson vue account. How long I should expect that my request will be processed. If the request is processed soon.it will help in booking the part3.

Yes you should be able to get vouchar from the Oracle and upload your assignement through pearson. Just remember do it before 27th august, see this link
https://coderanch.com/t/550155/java-Architect-SCEA/certification/Resubmission-Part-or-after-September
Folks,
Good news, you can resubmit your assignemnt or essay after 30th sept if you submit your part 2 and 3 by 27th of August and fail. Following is the response from oracle:

This email is to inform you that there has been a delay in grading assignments and essays. At this time, you may have been awaiting your results for more than four weeks. Please know that we are working diligently with the grading team to clear the backlog as quickly as possible. A bigger concern for you is probably the upcoming training requirement for your Java Master certification. We can assure you that should you receive a failing grade on your assignment, we will allow you time to resubmit and become certified should you pass, without completing the training requirement even if you receive your grade after the September 30 deadline. The exceptions outlined below will be allowed.

Candidate submits Assignment and Essay (and has completed any other required exams) by August 27, 2011 and receives a passing grade after September 30, 2011
This candidate will receive the certification without completing the training requirement

Candidate submits Assignment and Essay (and has completed any other required exams) by August 27, 2011 and receives a failing grade after September 30, 2011
This candidate will be given the opportunity to resubmit the assignment and essay within a prescribed time period. Should the candidate pass on the second attempt, he will receive the certification without completing the training requirement. Should he fail on the 2nd attempt, training will be required for certification based on subsequent attempts.

Thanks,
Oracle Certification Team

P.S. : I downloaded the assignment from Prometric, and bought it by visa card not by voucher.

Luay,
I bought the assignment by CC through prometric too.. but following is how I submitted to pearsonvue.

If you have downloaded the assignment through Prometric then you will have to email architect-submit_US@oracle.com to request for Special transition voucher to upload the voucher.

1. Go to www.pearsonvue.com/oracle

2. Click on Select File to Upload button to upload your completed assignment.

3. Select the assignment.jar file and click on upload file

4.When you have completed uploading your file click SUBMIT

5. When your assignment is uploaded you can register for the Essay exam

6. Proceed to registration and register for the Essay exam. When you have completed the Essay it will be paired with your assignment and qued for grading.

I uploaded the assignment today, by applying the voucher, sent by oracle (I had purchased assignment through prometric). All you have to do is just apply voucher and the form wizard will take you to the upload page.
On the last page I got message after submission of jar file, that I can take essay exam any time now onward.
Hi Folks,
Can you please clarify followings on Cade's chapter 9 component diagram.
1. I see Admin JSP's as component. Do we have to show that on our component diagram? In real project we may need one, but here, can we ignore it as it is not required under SuD.
2. If we don't use Admin JSP component, we obviously will not show external LDAP server?
3. Similarly can we ignore Email server and its components as they are not required by SuD requirements?

Any advice

Thanks
I got the voucher from oracle this morning.. not sure how to upload the assignment though.

I had similar problem. Have Passed part 1, bought assignment and now have to take part 3 and submit assignment.
Stumbled upon following Oracle's site. I guess it is comprehensive enough and contain answer to most of the above questions.
Vue-Prometric Transition

I noticed another new thing on this page:

I purchased the Assignment from Prometric, but I haven’t returned my completed project to Oracle yet. How do I upload my Assignment?

1. Contact suncert_ww@oracle.com to exchange your voucher(s) for voucher(s) that can be applied to the Assignment at Pearson VUE
2. If you do not already have one, create a Pearson VUE web account at pearsonvue.com/oracle; make sure to use your Oracle Testing ID (previously Prometric ID) to set up your Pearson VUE web account.
3. Access the Assignment online at pearsonvue.com/oracle by selecting the appropriate test number from the available Assignments; you will download your assignment requirements from the online test.
4. You will not be eligible to register for the Essay until you have submitted your Assignment

It means, we need to upload assignment first before doing essay exam!!

Sesha Sabari wrote:Hi Shoukat Memon, Greetings ..

I have 5 years experince in JAVA/J2EE Technologies like core, jsp, servlets, jsf, struts, hibernate and spring. Don't have any experience in design pattern, UML and etc.. which required for SCEA exam. Can you please guide me how do i start prepare for SCEA.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Sesha,
I guess no body can tell you if you ready for exam or not but yourself.
I would suggest to take mock exams available freely on net and see where you stand. How comfortable you feel with the type of questions. Even though my experience is that questions in real exam are very diffirent and case study like. You can only relate to those question and answer them, using common sense- and common sense is abstraction of wisdom which comes with experience. For example, A question like "You are an architect of XYZ organization, you have to choose a set of technology for a particular problem, you have choice a,b, c, or d". Usually two of the choice would be confusing and interrelated. Study from books did not help me much in many questions.
Set a traget date (depends on your knowlege) and start reading. Check the resources this forum has suggested or I have given a list too in my post.
Good luck and let me know if you need furthure advice.

Folks,
This plateform has been great help for me to pass the Part 1.
How could I get ready for part two. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Kind Regards
Passed the SCE Part 1 exam today. Scored 68%; not great though, yet happy that passed it. A big Thanks to this plateform, for providing a lot of genuine help and right direction.
Following is my observation about the exam.

I have more than 6 years of experience in java development, mainly in web-centric domain. Rarely used ejbs, jms. Mainly worked on JSP, JSF, JPA, Spring etc.

I have read a lot about the exam on various blogs. Read substantial material, what ever I could get FREELY. I believe in exam for sake of learning, don’t want to pass the exam just because of title- Paying for mock exams to just pass the exam is an absurd idea for me.

I thought exam was going to be easy – but it was very difficult –Sun folks have done a decent job in selection of questions pool- I had read so much that I thought I will get through exam very easily, but half way through on the day, I was not even sure, if I will pass. Exam expects judicious choice of answers from candiate .This is true that there was some element of “Remember by rote” type of questions. (no wonder mock exam folks give guaranty)
But overall I would say selection of questions is not easy; unless you have real field experience or you have paid for mock exams (whizlabs etc). At least exam makes you read a lot about JEE and architectures in general.

It took me 7 weeks in total to prepare for exam in total. (I have fulltime job and two children to give time too)
Following is the material I used to prepare my self.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/25297376/J2EE-5-Architect-Exam-Study-Guide (thanks to Mikalai Zaikin- really great compilation)
http://download.oracle.com/javaee/6/tutorial/doc/javaeetutorial6.pdf (Best Resource, Freely available).
http://www.javachamp.com/public/startExamPage.xhtml(good material, thanks to Yasser Ibrahim )
Head first design pattern book.(very good book on basic)
Core J2EE Patterns: Best Practices and Design.
Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software. (Used as a reference- not read it extensively)
http://jeyana.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Used few free mock exam, freely available on net, mostly flunked.

I wish all the best, to those who are preparing for exam. Approach me if I can be any help.
