Hi William,

Welcome to Coderanch.

I do have some questions reagarding Blockchain technology
# What is the best approach to understand to learn more about bitcoin technology, should I play around with my own hardware Blockchain setup?
# Does Ethereum has the capability to change the future? Are there any open world challenges with Ethereum?
# I got to know that some Ethereum based implementations were compromized with 51% problem. Does it makes any difference in adopting this technology?
# I have been trading Bitcoin recently, most of the times it takes very long to complete the transaction. Will this be a cons of this technology or this is solved in the new cryptocurrencies?
# Blockchain is on the top on Gartner hype cycle 2016. Is it good time to learn and have in-depth knowledge of this technology to make career in this tech?

Thanks

Hi Ric Messier,

# What is the current or future job market requirements for Penetration Testers?
# Would you suggest a 10+ years of experienced person currently in software development, Can become a Penetration Tester if he is keen to learn?
# I always loved to hack into systems/web/wifi etc, but after almost 10 years of experience I thought, had I chosen my career in Penetration/Security??

Thanks,

I know how Steganography works and how to implement.
But just wanted to ask, why you need that kind of application. And where and how you are going to use this?
Steganography can be misused, thats why I am asking?

Hi Authors,

I may not be interested in doing a certification on NetBeans IDE, but I had a thought of migrating my IDE from Eclipse to NetBeans just because I have been listening few good things about the NetBeans recently. Earlier in 2003 I had installed NetBeans but at that time I found Eclipse was very fast as compared to NetBeans, so since then I am using Eclipse. May be you can confirm the pros and cons between Eclipse and NetBeans based on their latest versions.

Thanks,
Jitendra
This would be my first time reading and reviewing MEAP if I would be given a chance to pick one. I would do the following if I would get one

  • First of all I would choose the technology which I am interested in learning and doing R&D with that.
  • Help author to review the content of book along with learning that technology.
  • I will learn the techniques how to write and review books, keeping in mind the aspects and expectations of the readers.

I know there are plenty of books available for JavaPerformanceTuning, but I would like to know is there any certification from ORACLE which is only for the Java Performance engineers?
    Hi Edward & Robert,

I was bit interested in the Java Performance Tuning certification from Oracle, But I believe there is not any certification available. Correct me if I am wrong. What you guys believe there should be one available from Oracle.

Also is there any specific certification available for the "JVM specification" and "Java Language Specification" from Oracle? I believe who so ever wants to be an expert in in-depth knowledge about java should have these certification.

    Hi Mick,

    Welcome to JavaRanch book promo.

What all technologies/specifications that a JEE application developer must know/aware-of?

I am facing the same problem even with SINGLE_TABLE inheritance strategy.
    Hi Mark,

I believe that developers choose the language as per the project requirement based on the following factors taken into consideration.
    # Language is good enough for client/server side applications. I believe GO is good at writing server side applications.
    # How much learning curve involved if someone knows Java/C/C++?
    # What kind of online support GO is having?
    # Are there enough tools/libraries available for GO as we compare to Java?
    # There must be good debugging support with language.
    # If some one is having existing java/c++ apps. How newly written GO app would interact with existing c++/Java written apps?

    Thanks

    Hi Rahul,

    Welcome to JavaRanch.

While going through the content of the book couple of questions raised in my mind.

  • As you know there are lot many new software engineers in India and most of them would want to become manager after gaining 8-12 years of experience. What you believe does India has potential to take those fresh engineers as managers in future?
  • What you believe, how the interview process should be improved to understand the behavioral skills of a new candidate?
  • What is the change you would like to do in the Indian management style?
  • Do you believe that subordinates should also be given equal chance to rate their managers?
  • While going through the chapter-8-Performance-Eval. I thought that performance eval should be done in 3 months, but actual appraisal+increment should be done yearly. Why 3 months? because this gives manager as well as candidate an idea about the status of the current year goals and one can remember what has been done in last 3 months instead of a year. What's your opinion on this?
  • Some times quality and quantity of work of a candidate gets affected at the time of Attrition. How the manager should handle this?
  • Manager is a bridge between the subordinates and upper management. I believe this book covers how to manage subordinates, but not covers how to keep upper management happy. Upper management periodically needs the project status in terms of the statistics/reports. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • Thanks

    Thanks for the information Ben,

I have joined Doug Lea's concurrency-interest mailing list, and I will keep an eye on what is going on. I will also go through the JMM and classes implemented in java.util.concurrent in depth to ensure that my idea is not implemented yet.
