I usually go through it quickly, and if something in particular stands out for me, I will click through the link if it has one.

I general scan the journal and then proceed to links of interest.

Kind of a ridiculous timing on this!

I received my journal seven hours ago (at 2:03 am) and I am reading it now, so I click through on the item asking whether I read it or not - and I cannot respond because the linked poll is already over! Come on guys - get it together.

Strange, poll is open, you supposed to be able to vote. As an option you can state your answer here. Suggestions for improvements are also welcome. Thanks.

Maybe I don't understand how it works? None of the poll posting is a link or clickable (clicking on the vote buttons do nothing, and there is no link to some other location where I can vote). At the bottom of the poll it says: "Last vote: Apr 30, 2017 8:02:10 AM" (which for me was 2 hours ago).

I usually find something of interests in the featured links each time.  More than that, once I'm on the site I can follow other threads for hours.

Hmm, they should be clickable. What browser are you using?

Ok - I spent more than 10 seconds this time. Browser doesn't matter (tried more than one) - but if I hover over the vote buttons long enough it tells me I have to post more before I can vote - mystery solved.

My apologies for saying it was because the poll was set to close too early (and that "last vote" message mislead me, I understand now it means the last time someone voted, not last chance to vote).

The poll answer is that I read the journal completely, but only click through on some of the links.

Have a cow for figuring it out yourself.... which, interestingly, since you now have a cow... this gives you a vote in the poll too...

This is a good point. Starting the next deployment, new polls will say "Last vote was cast:" rather than "Last vote: ".

I didn't know that you have a journal. Sounds cool, I will scan your future editions and read what seems interesting to me.

Since a number of users, who has not earned the status to vote, kinda unofficially voted in this topic by posting, I added a cow to those users. This should allow those users to officially vote in the poll.

Hope this helps,
Henry

I went and assigned some more cattle to everyone who voted or stated their thoughts in a thread. Thanks again!

"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"

is part of the US Constitution.

So is Immutability part of Functional Declaration?

And Immutability is part of the journal.

I scan through it and if anything strikes me as interesting, then I read that in depth.

Hi

Whenever I see JavaRanch Journal brain used to go fast to the topic  Interesting.CodeRanch.Forum.Topics  to read very interesting topics recently created.  I found something very interesting a member has been promoted as JForum Developer at Code Ranch in the month of April,17. We read on Staff Promotion but below is very inspiring to all. I feel very lucky if I can improve myself as like Liutauras Vilda.  Congratulations Liutauras. Keep growing best.

This.Month.Editor

Liutauras Vilda has been a member of CodeRanch since 2014 and a moderator since 2015. Recently started contributing as a JForum developer to a CodeRanch codebase. On a daily basis he learns software engineering subtleties from Senior Ranch Members and the same time he's doing his best to give something back to the community he grows at.

Kindest Regards
