As the book's title implies, it's focused on using the Eclipse core libraries to develop plugins. Here's the table of contents.

And the core libraries could be explained where...I have the same problems with MFC's and the libraries with C++. As a newbie in all aspects where would I begin to look for explanations on what a particular library could do for me.

Well, the books (such as Kent and Erich's) are probably the best source regarding readability as a major factor. Then there's the PDE guide (for which I can't get you a link right now as the eclipse.org site seems to be down) for online reading.
