I received the following email, I am not interested in applying for this position but if any of you are then please go ahead and contact the concerned person. Dont ask me any information, I know just as much as is written in the email:
Currently we have openings for you in IBM. IBM is the world's largest information technology company, as well as the world's largest business and technology services provider and the world's largest IT financier. In Fortune Magazine's 21st annual "Top Ten Most Admired Companies - Computer Industry" list, IBM ranked number one.
They have their R&D centres all over the world with more than 3 lakh employees working in IBM.
Currently they have openings for professionals in U.S with good experience in oracle,c,unix.
Also please let me know the following details in your mail.
* Whether you have already attended interview with IBM (if so,when ).
* Whether you have sent your resume to IBM through other consultants.
* Whether you have a passport or applied for it.
There are around 800 positions open with IBM at the moment. So please do pass on this mail to your colleagues / friends who have 2 - 10 yrs experience in IT working on any technologies.

Paul, this may be something else..
Usually its a red falg when someone/3rd party to the employer asks for such things as Birthdate as part of the first email..
You can steal people's identites by knowing name, phone number and birthdate to commit credit card fraud and etc..

AAND, aside from everything else, for a US position, asking for birth date can run you afoul of age discrimination regulations!
