how to create a war file in eclipse2.1 to deploy in tomcat 5.5

We are using eclipse 2.1 and tomcat 5.5 with backend of mysql.

we are trying to deploy the project in tomcat.

From eclipse, right click the project in package explore and export to war.
it is creating a file only without any extension.
Is it the right way, for deploying the application.

We also want how to deploy it in tomcat project.

You can use ANT for packaging stuff. Eclipse 3.1.0 and onward distributions have ANT with in it.

Creating war files with the command line "jar" program is very easy as is using ANT (as Adeel has mentioned).
