is there an ide or an editor that you can just stick code into and have it compile and run without actually saving the file first. I often see code here that i like to run but its just such a hassle to keep saving it first.

Well you could use an online java compiler to compile the files and then run the class files in your system. Is that ok ?

I have a test project in my computer that has an empty main method so that I can copy and paste into it in a flash and compile. You could use an IDE like eclipse or netbeans to do this.
