Hello :-)

I'm not sure how I did it but after uninstalling some modules I managed to break my copy of Netbeans.

After uninstalling it and re-installing it, I found the same broken Netbeans.

After searching the net I learned that for a clean uninstall I need to delete the userdir .netbeans\5.5 which is usually in documents and settings\username but... here's my problem... I cannot find any such directory!

Can anyone spare the time to help me get rid of this broken copy of Netbeans, so I can install a new, working version.

If you can I promise I will do my best to not tinker with it and break it again.

Thank you

Hi Red,

There should be a .netbeans directory for each user that ran Netbeans under "Documents and Settings\". Be sure to look under all of the subdirectories. If you are not running previous versions of Netbeans on the same computer, it's safe to delete the entire .netbeans directory, otherwise, just delete the .netbeans\5.5 directory. If you can't find any such directories, try the following:

Make sure you have uninstalled the previous version.
Search your entire hard drive for "netbeans" AND ".netbeans".
Delete any of these directories you find (that were created by Netbeans).
Reinstall Netbeans.

If this doesn't work, I'll need some more info:
What OS are you using?
Where was Netbeans installed?
What is the error message you are receiving?

Good luck!
