When creating a Dynamic Web Project in Eclipse 3.3 with Servlet version 2.4 a Deployment Descriptor listing is shown. This shows the content of the web.xml under WEB-INF such as Servlets, Servlet Mappings, etc.

Under the Project Explorer view
-- Deployment Descriptor: WebAppName
-- Java Resources
-- src
-- WebContent

But when creating a Dynamic Web Project with version 2.5 this is missing. Is this deliberate or an error? Isn't this view with version 2.5 ?

Using the Servlet 2.5 descriptor in Eclipse 3.2 does not give this problem. Even though Eclipse 3.2 does not come with 2.5 support. I just updated the URLs in web.xml

Please be sure to post question about IDEs in the IDEs forum. I have moved this one there for you.

This did not just concern IDE, but also a Servlet API 2.5 versus 2.4 issue.

As far as I can see, that issue is about how various versions of Eclipse work with regard to the Servlet API and nothing else. So it looks like an Eclipse question to me too, and therefore I will leave it here.

This is all about the IDE and has nothing to do with Servlet technology.
