A war file is just a special form of a zip file. Anyone who has access to it can unzip it and get access to the individual files.

What exactly are you trying to protect against?

You cannot prevent anyone from seeing your code. You can just make it harder to read it. Have a search on 'obfuscator'.

However, if you are writing a web application, it is very unlikely that there will be a requirement to hide your code from the customer. On the contrary, normally there will be a requirement to make your source code available to the customer.

Anil,
Which source code are you trying to hide? You don't need to distribute the .java files. If you are distributing the .war to the client, they have to get the JSP and (possibly obfuscated) .class files. The end user only gets to see the generated HTML.
