I am using Ant to compile java source code using JDK1.3.1 and encounter the following problem.
No .class files are generated until all files in the source directory compile without failures. The end result is that one compile failure causes me to have to recompile everything once the error is fixed.
I changed to use JDK1.2.2 and everything works? Has anyone encountered this problem?
Thanks,
Erick

I am going to move this to the Jakarta forum and see if they have an answer.

I don't consider this situation to be a problem, but my builds are generally small. I thought that there might be an option to javac, but I could not find one in the documentation for it. Hopefully, someone else a lead.
Good luck,
Craig

Eric were you able to get over the problem of specifying javac 1.2.2 rather javac 1.3 to generate the calss files.
Im having similar problem and when i slect the complier as classic or javac1.2, things appear to work fine, but run into another problem of resolving dependecy with classic compilers.
Any help will be helpful.

I use both Ant and JDK 1.3.1. Although all errors are listed, only the class files for classes before the first error are generated. I'm not sure why you're not seeing any class files generated though. I also tried out javac *.java from a command line, and that actually generated no classes when there was an error in any one of them.

Do compilers other than javac have the same behavior?
