hello ppl

some help required on this interesting stuff Im developing.

I can use <vssget> to log on and get code. But what if I want to use some other features of VSS, like status search etc. , is there any built-in ant task?

Any bright ideas?

No you can't do status searching. Not sure why you might need this in a build file though, but I'm sure you have your reasons? See the docs for a list of supported tasks.

Yes probably, though it doesn't nned to be VBScript. You need to run ss.exe with its Status command and parse the output. YOu could wrap all that in a script and call it via <exec />. Alternatively you could also ass a custom Ant task to do the same and do it all in Java.

ss.exe is the VSS excutable Ant uses to interact with VSS - its the old command line interface that the current VSS GUI is based on. Look in your VSS install directory for it and run it with /? to see the available commands.

Given you can't run Ant's VSS tasks on a non-windows machine though you are probably just as well wrapping this in VBScript if that is more familiar. Hoever, if you want to write it in Java you can do this by writing a custom Ant task (or an application that you call with <exec /> See the Ant documnetation to get you going with that.

Thanks paul. You have been a great help. I was able to do the required stuff using ss in bat files. Though i still have to make it run on linux mc. I think i will use VBScripts.
But if i want to use java application only then what libraries you suggest
