Does anyone know how to check process on unix machine across a network.

Can you please explain what do you mean by :
1) checking the process
2) across a network
If you mean calling ps-related tools on a remote machine, then
you probably need rsh. Also, you can install SNMP daemon and configure it to report processes information.

By checking the processes I mean finding out what processes are running on a machine from another machine with admin access on the network. The Network could be solaris based or NT based and the user could boot into either solaris or NT. The admin User will be logged into NT and can check all processes on the network, what I'm trying to find out is, can I write a Java application to do this.
