Hi all,
I am new to linux and have installed it successfully on my machine after some initial probs.I am an SCJP and been programming on other OS for quiet a while.
The only issue I am facing now is:
When I logout from X windows-I use GNOME , or use ctrl+alt+backspace , the machine hangs, monitor switches off and keyboard locks too.So i have to hard boot the machine.
The /log/ar.messages file says
Input condition is 0x10 , exiting
Can anyone help me with this.
More over how do I get to install apache and JDK on Linux??
Thanks in advance..

I don't know why your machine is committing hara-kiri (isn't GNOME pre-stable?) but you can download the latest apache distribution from apache.org and download the latest Linux JDK from sun.com

Thanks George!
I m using RedHat 6.1 and the configuration of X windows went without any probs.I have tried various configs using Xconfigurator but the problem still persists.
Do u suggest installing Xwindows again from scratch??
Moreover , I have not configured internet connection from Linux yet.Can I download apache & JDK in windows and install in Linux somehow?
