HI On my system (gnome)red hurt linux is installed , I to having internall modem of motorola but linux dose not detect my modem even cd provided with modem dose not cointain any software to install modem on linux.
Modems and Linux does not go together well -- :-) The first thing you have to find out is whether your modem will work with Linux. If your modem is a PCI modem most probably it is a WinModem and will *not* work with Linux. Some development is going on now to support WinModem but I do not know whether a beta version of that is released. If you want to find out whether your modem is PCI or not -- These are simple ways: 1. Open PC and check in which slot it is sitting. Normally PC has smaller slots (which are PCI) and larger ones (which are ISA). If it is sitting on a small slot then it is a PCI modem. 2. If your modem manual has install instructions for DOS or Win 3.1, it is not a WinModem and will work in Linux. 3. If you modem maual says "Specially designed for Windows 95/98/Me" then most probably it is WinModem. If you have a PCI modem replace it with an external modem or an ISA modem. Go to How-to serial/modem config pages in linux.org and it covers install instructions clearly. Follow that. -- Hope this helps and keep me posted
