Hi !
Trying to insatll JDK 1.3.1 on Mandrake. I need some help to set the enviroment variable, so I can run Java in the dir of my choice ! I Tryied to move the files in jdk/bin to usr/local/bin and usr/bin, but that was just a wild quess...
Maybe u can help me

You may want to go back to java.sun.com - they're now providing JDK's in RPM format. JDK's are generally used as a unit, so JAVA_HOME would be /usr/java/jdk1.3.0_02, for example, and you'd add $JAVA_HOME/bin to your PATH.
Red Hat likes to move packages into the master bin directories, which keeps the PATH shorter at the expense of losing some of the who-has-what (fortunately and RPM query gets most of it back), but Java is unique enough I can live with it being more insular.
