Using Java on Linux  RSS feed

Hi,
i have installed jdk 1.2 on suse linux. but when i use the java command with -jar to start a program i get an error message. the message says that the -jar add-on doesn�t exist.
there is also an older version of the jdk on the system.
what could be wrong???
i have just started with linux.
thanks.

Hi Dirk. What I had to do, was unistall the older JAVA version before ever installing the new JDK. For some reason, the files linger. After you have done that, do a java -version and make sure it is correct.

Thanks Gregg, do i have to set the classpath or anything else? would you recommend to uninstall and install the jdks with yast?
