Hi all,
Sorry to post this non-technical question here. The main reason I came here at all is that I used to come here regularly when I was going through my certification and the discussion forum is what helped me greatly to get mt SCJP certification. The certifcation helped me a great deal in fetching me a job in the present crisis as well.
Now in my quest to master Linux in depth (including from hardware configuration to writing complicated shell scripts and some not-so-complicated sheel scriots to automate backup) for my new job (additional requirement to Java) I am looking for similar discussion forums in Linux (apart from this one ). I will be most grateful if any body could provide me links to the such help sites/ discussion forums which is wquivalent to Javaranch for Java.
Thanks in adance,
~ Nishant

I hope that last post wasn't sarcastic. Expecting a result in 5 hours in an international volunteer-supported forum is somewhat optimistic.
Anyway, I just had a cruise around some of the obvious places and found the following as a starting point:

  • http://discussions.virtualdr.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro
  • http://sourceforge.net/forum/?group_id=1
  • http://www.hypernews.org/HyperNews/get/computers/languages.html
  • http://arstechnica.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?a=cfrm
  • http://www.nvnews.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=29
  • http://forums.maccentral.com/wwwthreads/wwwthreads.php?returnto=none
  • http://www.linux-notebook.org/cgi/wwwthreads/wwwthreads.pl
  • http://hp-linux.org/

  • I hope some of the above will be useful and/or interesting.

No it was not sarcastic. It was just out of total exasperation. Being a regular to the Java discussion forum, this forum seemed sooooooooooooooooooooo slow (sorry to say so).
But thanks a lot for your help. I am most grateful for it.
