I installed StarOffice 6.0 Beta as root and now I can only run it as root. What did I do wrong? As myself I can run it, but as soon as I try any action in the program, it crashes. If I run it as root, no problems. Any ideas?

Perhaps only root has execute permission.
You need to set it executable for other users.
chmod +x nameOfExecutableThatRootCanRun
should do it.
Try running
man chmod
at the command line if you are not familiar with it.

Actually, I think that it's more of a matter of "it runs under whichever user you install it as". StarOffice 5 seemed to be the same way. Curious, since Sun should certainly know multi-user environments.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
