Hi,
I have Red Hat Linux 7.1 in my home. For the past 6 months i was able to work on both KDE and GNOME desktops. Lastweek when i restarted the system LILO comes up and starts the system processes and finally I see the text login prompt and looks like when it try to start the x server i get a blank screen.
I would appreciate any response on how to figure out what is wrong.
Thanks in advance
Jay

did u update anything recently? If you upgraded your X server it might have landed you into one of the releases that doesn't work with your card
either update again and hope they fixed the problem

log into safe mode (at startup press ctl-x and then at the LILO prompt type "linux single"
and then log in and run "setup" and configure X for the lowest res

Hi,
Thanks for the valuable tip. I was able to reconfigure the X Server. But, when I tried to run X Server manually, I got the classical "Could not find font Fixed" error. I checked font dir and verified all files. It was OK.
After scratching my head couple of times, I found that my root directory is 100%. I had a 4GB size xession_errors file. Once i deleted that it worked fine.
Thanks once again,
Jayakumar
