Additional notes from the hiring manager:

We generally look for well rounded candidates. They should know Java, but also SQL, HTML, JavaScript, etc. Candidates often lack strong database skill sets. Our developers all write their own database code, and that code is often much more complex than Java developers are used to, so candidates should be able to write complex stored procedures.

Also, candidates need to have direct experience building web applications, preferably complex, large-scale enterprise systems.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are important because we work in two offices, we work over the phone a lot, so candidates should be able to communicate effectively. Candidates should be able to work under various conditions, such as not having strong specification to build from.

We are also looking for candidates that have worked with web-application frameworks, such as Struts. We use WebWork and XWork, so direct experience with WebWork is better than Struts, but they are very similar. Candidates should have experience with major application servers and web servers, like JBoss (preferred), WebLogic, Tomcat, etc., major relational databases, like MS SQL Server (preferred) or Oracle. Experience with IDEs like IntelliJ IDEA (preferred), Eclipse, or NetBeans.

We have a great balance of people to work with, each bringing their own expertise to the team. It is a dynamic environment, where one gets to work on interesting projects. The environment is relaxed, easy going, and fun. The product is something that helps to make patient lives better.

Please note-- My client will consider architect candidates for an opening in the near future.

Interested Candidates: Please email your resume along with a letter that highlights your experience with the requirements listed above to anne@aga-recruit.com.
