BEA Systems, one of the world's leading e-business infrastructure software companies, is seeking a senior technical writer to create documentation for WebLogic Workshop, a leading-edge, W3C standards-based data integration technology. WebLogic Workshop, built on award winning BEA WebLogic Server, will provide unified views of heterogeneous information sources such as relational databases, XML files, Web services, and packaged and custom applications.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Candidate will create HTML-based documentation for the new BEA WebLogic Workshop and for BEA�s open source offerings. Candidates will work directly with Engineering and Product Management to obtain product information, create documentation plans, and write conceptual, task-based, and reference material for guides, online help systems, and for our external BEA websites at: and

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

�Excellent communication and writing skills, and an ability to write technical documentation from scratch based on product and engineering specifications, proof-of-concept demos, and interviews with technical specialists.
�Must have consistent experience developing information from installing and working with prototype applications, and conducting engineering interviews.
�Experience creating help systems and HTML-based documentation.
�A familiarity with W3C XQuery or other query languages such as SQL; XML; database technologies is desired.
� At least 3+ years experience developing technical documentation of a Java/J2EE based product set for a technical audience such as programmers/developers or data architects.
�A B.A. in English, Technical Communication, or related field or B.S. in Computer Science or a technical discipline with a concentration in technical writing is preferred. Demonstration of professional experience and accomplishments equivalent to a formal educational background can substitute.
�Experience working on and documenting products for both Windows and UNIX platforms.
�Experience with Adobe FrameMaker and Dreamweaver. Other experience with supporting tools for online documentation production and publishing is a plus.
�Ability to work with well with a variety of team members such as technical and product specialists such as application developers, customer support representatives, product managers, engineering managers, build engineers, documentation tools support and product marketing representatives.
