I have apache running and I need to know where to put my site including the cgi-bin. I used to navigate to htppd before but now I'm lost since I'm running as ROOT. I'm running Mandrake 8.2. Please help.I have searched everywhere in the system but no luck yet.

All the information you need will be in the config files for your apache installation. Try
locate httpd.conf
When/if you find it, look through it until you find where files and cgi-bin should be located. In particular you want to look for the "DocumentRoot" directive and maybe "ScriptAlias /cgi-bin"
I hope this helps.

When I started out, the accepted root for apache websites was /home/httpd. These days it seems to be /var/web.
Actually, what really matters is that there's no "security leakage". I spend the weekend ripping the Slapper worm out of a server that hadn't gotten the SSL fixes installed. Examination of the internal propagation code was very educational. It attempted to replicate hidden copies of itself all up and own the major directory trees. If I had been foolish enough to run Apache as root the damage would have been much worse!
