Hi
I am looking for a solution similar to Winzip, view structure of a large zip file without unzip it. Is it possible?
Thanks

unzip -l myfile.zip
Also note that some of the desktop "explorers", such as recent versions of Nautilus will open the directory of a zipped or tarred file for browsing.

Thanks, Tim. Is there an option to sort by "modified date" in myfile.zip?

Not in the Gnu ZIP utilities (that I know of). The GUI utilities might if you clicked on the date column heading - I believe that Winzip does that under Windows.
Otherwise the easiest thing might be to just create a simple utility in Java using the java.util.zip classes and the collection classes to extract information and order it.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
