I'm looking for a way to increase the number of aliased IP addresses I can have on my linux box, running RedHat 7.3 with a custom 2.4.20 kernel. Is there a parameter I can change in the kernel source to up the limit -- which I believe is somewhere around 450 as a default?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Anybody have a suggestion where I can post a question like this and have a better chance at a reply? Is there a bulletin board somewhere that specializes in kernel tweaks?
Thanks,

You could try raising it on the Sydney Linux User Group's email list (follow the links to the lists). The email list is open to anyone who wants to post and/or receive postings, not just members. If they dont know, then frequently someone there will be able to tell you where to go for the information.
Please dont ask people to reply directly rather than through the mailing list though - such requests are often ignored.
Just out of curiosity - why do you need so many IP addresses?
Regards, Andrew

Thanks, Andrew. I'll give it a shot. I'm researching IP telephony -- which is why I need so many IPs per box.
