64 bit or 32 bits jdk ?  RSS feed

Hello I am using solrais sparc ultra 60
OS is solaris 8
i want to download jdk1.4.2. should i download
jdk1.4.2 64 bits verion or 32 bits version?
what doesnt they mean?
any difference between them?

i am goind to share it with ur guys
what you need to download depends on what you want to
do with the VM - 32 bit or 64 bit apps. With the latter,
you can have extremely large heaps, with thge 32 bit version
you're limited to 4 GB. For your private purposes, you don't need the
64 bit VM, they just use 32 bit.

I do not think this is true. If you have a 32 bit system you need to download the 32 bit version of java. If you have a 64 bit system, then you need the 64 bit version of java.

Indeed, the version depends on whether your hardware and OS are 64 bit.
I THINK you can use the 32 bit JSDK on a 64 bit platform but the reverse is certainly not the case.
