I have installed linux and windows on a single PC. but when i reinstall the windows linux is not booting. i think the master boot record is changed how to retrieve linux with out reinstalling it. thanks in advance.
Boot using your linux recovery floppy, mount the root filesystem and reinstall the master boot partition using whichever loader you had installed previously (usually lilo or grub).
If you want to dual-boot, you should install windows first and linux second. Otherwise, you will lose your linux partition. During the install, create a bootdisk and boot from that to get to the linux.

I agree with the "install win* first, then linux" suggestion. However, I found that if you were going to install windows and linux on a single hard drive; install windows first, but let windows install on part of the disk. Then when installing linux, set it up to occupy the unused area on disk. This way you do not have to worry about the repartioning step.
