hi dudes...
i am new to linux but not to java/jsp...i am using tomcat,jdk and jbuilder7(ide for java) in windows for a long time..i want to know whether these tools which i am using for windows can run on linux also or there is some different version of tomcat,jdk and ide for linux(using redhat 8)...

I'm not sure if JBuilder will work on linux, but everything else you mentioned work fine.

Borland distributes linux versions of JBuilder. And Solaris and Mac apparentely.

you should try Emacs with JDE at least once and then go for Eclipse or NetBeans or JBuilder or IDEA linux version. I am using Emacs now and would go for Eclipse, but my company is planning to buy IDEA linux/unix version.
