I got this list :
Suse professional edition 9
Suse professional edition 9.1
Suse professional edition 8
Suse linux office server
Suse linux enterprise server multilanguage
Redhat enterprise 3
Redhat professional 8
Redhat professional 9
as I all the ranchers here, I am a Java guy , I want to be able to create java desktop application and j2ee application and ofcourse linux allow me to do any thing, but my question which version should I choose ?
I don't want a 800 pound gorilla linux (something like linux server) I just want to use linux as I use windows.
can I choose JDS as alternative to linux ? I really want to give it a chance..

The distribution (redhat, suse, debian, ...) is nearly irrelevant.

Look for a recent distribution with a 2.6-kernel, which occured dec-2003, while some 2004-distros came still with 2.4.xy-kernels.

Anything you miss might be installed later just in time.

I don't know JDS from trying.
I don't get familar with their idea - is there any?
