Is it possible to legally download a free copy of Star Office 7 from somewhere?

Star Office is not free. The free version is called Open Office. See http://www.openoffice.org .

I am debating on whether I should spend the $49.99 for Star Office. Is it worth it or should I stick to Open Office? In other words, do both Office applications have the same functionality?

Star Office has some extra fonts and dictionaries that aren't available as open-source.

Plus, you're entitled to call up Sun and whine if it doesn't work right.

You'll find worse deals.

Thanks for all of your help. I probably will buy Star Office; afterall, it is a lot cheaper than MS Office.
