Don't want to compile popular programs from source code? Or the compilation always reports mysterious errors? Here's the Solution. (For SuSE users only).

1. Run YaST with GUI, provide the root password when asked.
2. Click the tab Software.
3. Click the "Change source of installation" icon.
4. Click Add --> Http
5. Server name: packman.iu-bremen.de
6. Directory on Server: suse/9.2 ( or suse/9.1, depends on which version you are using)
7. Authentication: anonymous
8. Click Ok.
9. Click finish.
10. Connect to internet.
11. Click "install and remove software"

Now you can search for the packages you want or look at the complete available package list. For example, search for "Mplayer" you will get the MPlayer package and the MPlayer plugin for Mozilla (works perfectly on FireFox). Then click install, the automatic package dependency check will tell you the additional libraries to install. Get your SuSE installation DVD in your DVD driver ready and start the installation. After that, your SuSE box plays almost _any_ media format you can imagine, even the encoded commercial DVDs. And, your FireFox will have no problem to play _any_ format of streaming media files. This is only one example, there are many other valuable binary packages parked on packman.iu-bremen.de, explore and you can get almost anything you want. And, this site updates very often.
