My PATH and CLASSPATH settings have an reference to /usr/java131/bin and /usr/java131/jre/bin/. But still i'm getting this error. Pls help me on this.

Hi,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

Sounds like your installation is simply broken. As this is an AIX problem rather than a Java problem, I'm moving this to our Linux/UNIX forum.

Can u just find where is libjvm.a is located. I think your LD_LIBRARY_PATH needs to be set correctly.

Do a find for libjvm.a like this.

find / -name libjvm.a -print 2>/dev/null

After locating it correctly, add the path to the CLASSPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH...

Actually, there are people who'll flame you for even suggesting the use of LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I'm not one, but normally I'd expect the JVM to be capable of resolving its own libraries without external help.

I'm not familiar with Java under AIX, but the best bet is to get a fresh copy, RTFM, and reinstall it in accordance with whatever directions - if any - they suppply.
