Hai All,

I need a Linux system that is fast and has a good GUI. I use RedHat Linux 9 which is very slow on my machine. I am using linux for java development ,some net surfing and for preparing some documents. Please suggest me a good one that suits my need.

Thank you

It's not always the distrib that bogs you down, but the window manager / desktop you use. For example: KDE is fat and slow... I use sarge GNU/Debian with Enlightenment (and some times blackbox) for the Window Manager and am verry happy with its performance. If you prefer somthing desktopy try gnome. Debian's package manager is excelent and will allow you to download it with a single command. If you need any further assistance, just let me know.

Good luck and good cheer,

-D.P.

Some may scoff...but I'm a long-time Gentoo user. The best part about Gentoo is you get what you want/need and can make it as lean and mean as you want...especially when putting your own kernel together.

I haven't found one faster yet...while simultaniously giving you complete control of your system.
