Solaris 10 x86
posted 12 years ago
I used to use solaris sparc at work, versions 8 and 9. Now I'm a teacher and try all the semester to teach Operating Systems using version 10 x86.
We spend a long time with installations, and coud not use some pc's due incompatibility with some nic's.
The interface is ok (CDE, JDS, KDE), and in general works ok. Few pc's began to reboot automatically and the JDS in another ones died.
Some students got a good impresion of solaris and some not.
I think, with more drivers the X86 version is a good choice.
What do you think ?
