Hi all - this is my first time in the saloon but certainly you will find me hanging out here a lot ...

My first problem occeured when I configured my working environment that is in my case the VIM editor on a WinXP box. I am not a very skilled WinXP user cause my prefered OS is Linux so I might need help with the Win OS in some cases.

I want to compile my testapp.java from within vim, by doing
:compiler javac
:make

But this doesn't work (in vim - when I compile manualy on a terminal with javac testapp.java it works). "Doesn't work" means there is neither a testapp.class after the compile nor any error message.

:clist gives me "No errors"

The message right after the compile reads like this:
:!javac >C:\DOKUME~1\Office\LOKALE~1\Temp\VIe8.tmp 2>&1 Shell gab 2 zurueck

Has anybody here javac running from inside VIM on WinXP (this seems to be Windows specific) and provide me with some pointers?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

Hmmm. Well, this isn't a Java question at all, so it doesn't belong here. We don't have a specific "Windows" forum to move this to, and I don't know that it would really belong there, either.

Even though you're using Windows, I'm going to move this to our "Linux/UNIX" forum because the vim experts are most likely to look there. Head over to that forum and see what happens!
