open64 and dragon tool

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi

I am trying to install open64 and its tool dragon on to the machine.
Half way through the installation process is, was asked to insert the following but it gave me error messages.

code: openf90 -dragon -ipa -O2 BT.f
it says : /usr/bin/openf90: cannot execute binary file

so I tried using

code : file /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ia64-open64-linux/0.16/driver

it says: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ia64-open64-linux/0.16/driver: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, IA-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (user shared bits), not stripped

and

code : ldd /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ia64-open64-linux/0.16/driver
it says : not a dynamic executable

Does it mean that the file is a 64-bit dynamically executable file?
I have a 32-bit machine!!

If yes how ?

If no, then how else ?

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

You do understand that Open64 is a compiler suite for the IA64 architecture, right? It can only target 64-bit hardware?

It can, however, be used as a cross-compiler and installed on 32-bit machines; the generated code won't work on the development machine, of course. See, for example, this document.
Not looking good. I think this might be the end. Wait! Is that a tiny ad?
