hi, What are the steps to install and set the path of tomcat on UBUNTU.i have installed java. and the jdk folder structure is /usr/java/jdk1.6...../bin
The preferred way to install software on Ubuntu is by the package management system. You can do it graphically by using Synaptic, or with the following command in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install tomcat5.5
(This will work on Ubuntu 8.04 and installs Tomcat 5.5). If you need a different version of Tomcat, then download the .tar.gz file from the Tomcat website and unpack it in any directory you like:
I have install tomcat from the UBUNTU synpatic, but when I give http://127.0.0.1:8080 ----->error Page is display. I think It need to set the environmental variable.
