Java 1.4.2 is available via Software Update or Apple's site. Beware, completely overwrites 1.4.1 install and does not include the SDK as a part of the standard install. SDK w/Documentation is available via the ADC.
First impressions are the speed. Load and compile seem faster.
FYI

Cool - I wondered where the docs would be, even though the download comes with the compiler.

Whoah, no offense meant here simon, but...you're an author of Java development books and you've never heard of the SDK?

Depends on what you mean by the SDK. The Mac Java distribution contains all the tools that the Sun distros contain - javac, jar, etc. What I didn't realise is that there is an additional (50Mb!) download called the Java 1.4.2 Developer Package. Apart from examples and Javadocs, what else is included and what are the "additional tools" that are referred to on the page?
I've just started the download but it's going to take a while.
Simon
no offense taken

My oops. SDK is obviously incorrect- I was sloppy with my terminology. It is the Java 1.4.2 Developer Package. I'll be more careful.
