I downloaded JDK 1.5 from the apple website. I followed the instructions on how to set it up. But even after that, I'm still only getting 1.4 version of my Java...

java version "1.4.2_07"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_07-215)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-50, mixed mode)

here's the link I followed...

thanks...

That link is for Release 1, which is about a year old now. If you need to use that release, then see Java 5.0 - The Missing Installation Instructions.

However, with the new Release 4 (from just a couple of weeks ago), "J2SE 5.0 becomes the preferred Java version, superseding Java 1.4.2... [and] applications will run with J2SE 5.0 unless they specifically request Java 1.4.2."
