Ah bert, you ordered an up-sized Mac??

I remember you posting before about the Mac sub-notebook rumors. What happened to your urge to go ultra portable?

Im still going to wait for the sub-notebook... even though its not rumored o only come out next year. I recently moved to Singapore, and even my iBook feels like a brick, carrying it standing on a train for 30 mins everyday - I need that ultra portable!

In the mean time, I hope my 12' iBook holds out.. its got the G4 1.33, and a gig ram. But coding in 1024*758 is a pain, and tomcat takes so long to start!

Anywayz - Bert, listen - now you got your 17' Mac you have no excuse not to start writing a new Head First Web Services !!

Hi Dean,

Well, I'd still love a Mac sub-notebook! Over the last couple of years we have done a LOT of business travel, and that was the driving force behind wanting a sub-notebook. Now we're cutting way, way back on travel, so my needs changed. My old, old, old 667 mhz powerbook was just getting harder and harder to keep patched together, and with the spring and summer months coming, I thought it would be great to be able to work outside, and not be chained to an external monitor.

As far as web services...erghhh! Maybe some good author who likes web services will come to O'Reilly, but Kathy and I wouldn't be lead authors on that book - sorry to say, we both agree that we aren't particularly fond of web services. Over in the bunkhouse porch forum I recently talked a little about upcoming HF titles.

So, don't worry, when that sub-notebook comes out, I'll be in line for one, and we'll have to hit the road again
