I found an old disk and tried to read it in my eMac with OS X. It tries to install OS 9 but stops short of getting to the completion on the progress bar. Does anyone use old programs successfully?

To do any serious Java work, you'll need OS X, but you can still use OS 9 on occaision (for non-Java work) using both OS 9 and OS X.

Are you booting from OS 9 or OS X? Is this version 9.2.2?

What is the error message is any? What is the last progress message that you get?

Is the disk clean and unscratched?

If the disk is scratched, you might be able to get it buffed at a video game store such as Game Crazy.
