I couldn't remember my login info, so I didn't make a post, but it was pretty amazing to be able to poke around the ranch using a phone! The interface is really slick - more two fingered gestures.

hey Bear - I didn't buy one - just played with it at the Apple store...

I can't really justify buying one yet - I'm trying to figure out what lifestyle changes would be necessary so that I could actually need one

The replacement batteries are EXTREMELY expensive

I got to play with one a week or so back. Sweet!

But I can't justify one yet either. Let me know how the lifestyle change works out!

I am sitting in an NTB tire shop with my Powerbook (they have an open WiFi network.) I could see where an iPhone would be a sweet thing to have right now, because I need to get up and powder my nose, but to do so I'd have to unplug and carry this thing with me...

Do you not carry a compact in your laptop bag?

Somwhat related story. Two weeks back, I was sitting in the waiting area of a motorcycle/ATV store waiting for the oil to get changed on my bike with my MacBook Pro propped open in front of me.

I can't tell you how many people came by to oooh and ahhh over it. The staff might have gotten annoyed that the customers were paying more attention to my Mac than the bikes on display, except that they were the doing the same.

The reaction to an iPhone might have been even more intense -- assuming that they noticed it in the first place.

It's not computing in the head that's concerning me -- it's leaving stuff in the waiting room unattended.

zzziiiinnnnnnnggggggggggg! plop! (the sound of Bear's feeble attempt at humor whizzing by and falling flat)

My point was that with a compact:

you could just powder your nose without getting up.

Another strike against euphemisms.

FYI, I stuck the laptop in the case and went.

I am posting this from a Blackberry. (Not the fruit, the handheld device, just to head off any more lame jokes). Wow this keyboard is tedious, I won't be doing this a lot.

When I got to play with the virtual keyboard on the iPhone I was astounded. I expected it to be a problem, especially for a fat-fingered fumbler like me. But it was amazingly forgiving.

the keyboard does seem forgiving - I kept expecting to have made a typo, and I kept not making typos...how do it know?

Guys,

I am a proud owner of the 8 gig iPhone (bought one two weeks ago).

And I must say, that it rocks!!!

Finally, I can sync my Mail, iCal, iTunes, iPhoto, etc. all on one device!

The visual voicemail rocks as does EDGE (its really not that slow, and for e-mails, its speed is instantaneous) and WiFi.

My logic is that when a better iPhone comes out, I'll just sell mine on eBay for $200 (and besides many friends are already seeking to buy it off me, when that time comes).

Cheers,
